The project proposed establishing a network of tourism experiences through the development of landscape interpretation strategies in the Province of Choapa, organized around geological landscapes in Salamanca, mining landscapes in Illapel, rural landscapes in Canela, and coastal landscapes in Los Vilos.
The proposal sought to highlight the value and scope of landscape architecture in the development of experience-based tourism. It did so by emphasizing a multiscalar, multifaceted, and dynamic approach grounded in an informed understanding of the conditions and potential of each place and its social, political, economic, cultural, and ecological context.
This framework made it possible not only to develop an innovative, sophisticated, and high-quality tourism offer, but also to provide a model for the conservation, enhancement, and management of cultural assets, generating new opportunities for local and regional sustainable development.
