I was born in Valparaíso, Chile, and spent my childhood on the island of Tierra del Fuego, at the southern edge of Chilean Patagonia. Growing up in a territory often described as infinite and hostile deeply shaped the way I understand landscape and the sense of place. Since then, one question has stayed with me: how seemingly formless territories acquire identity and become expressions of the efforts of their inhabitants to establish a relationship with their natural surroundings.
